My name is Mike May and this is my fourth year as the Physical Education Teacher at St. Anne’s School. In 2010, I graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College with a double major in Health Education and Physical Education, and a minor in Coaching. In 2011, I returned to School at Minnesota State, Mankato to receive my teaching license and a minor in Developmental Adaptive Physical Education.
My main goal as a physical educator is to educate children on becoming, and staying physically active throughout their lifespan. Our classes always start with creating a base of fundamental motor skills (running, skipping, jumping, hopping, etc.) and exercises (push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks ect.), followed by a progression of skill development( throwing, striking, kicking), culminating in large games or activities. This progression allows the children to individually develop their skills, and find success before moving on to large game play.
**Below is a list of some of the units that your children will be participating in throughout the year.
Soccer, Football, Basketball, Dance, Yoga, Baseball/Softball Skills, Kickball/Mat ball, Hockey, Brannboll, and Various Fleeing and Dodging games.
